More silicon plants in Dehong of Yunnan province planned to suspend operation by the end of Thursday October 30th as electricity prices will be raised across the area on November 1st.
A shortage of hydropower in the dry season accounted for the higher electricity charges. As of Thursday, some local silicon plants have suspended, with some scheduled to cut off power tomorrow. Plants mostly remained optimistic on the market in the dry season and did not hurry to destock.
As of October 30th, we assessed the price of non-oxygen 553# silicon at Kunming port flat on the week at an average 11,900 CNY/MT; prices of 441# silicon was also little changed on the week at 12,500-12,600 CNY/MT.
