Operations of silicon metal plants at Yunnan province are being limited by insufficient rainfall

‍‍Silicon metal plants in Yunnan province face operation restrictions after recent rainfall in the region proved insufficient to generate hydropower.

A silicon plant in Lincang city operated its blast furnace at 80% capacity. As of May 24, in the Dehong area, silicon plants that resumed production from maintenance faced a shortage of electricity. Silicon plants in Nujiang area also chose operate at a low capacity due to short supplies of electricity.

It was reported that there will be rainfall aroud May 30 in Linyi and Nujiang. The traditional rainy season for Yunnan province starts in June and extends to December.
