Setting up production are ongoing with silicon plants in Yunnan province before the approaching rainy season

‍‍‍‍As the rainy season approached, silicon producers in Yunnan province began to ramp up production.

Silicon production recovered across Nujiang, one of three main producing areas in Yunan province. Most plants in Baoshan and Dehong, the other two main producing areas, will resume operation in early June when the electricity costs adjusted for the rainy season.

In Baoshan, some plants resumed operations but are not at fully capacity. In Dehong, seven submerged arc furnaces across six silicon plants are in operation while another six await approvals to restart.

On Thursday May 17, prices of 441# silicon traded at 13,000-13,100CNY/MT with 3303# silicon around 14,100CNY/MT.
