‍‍‍‍Prices of Chemical-grade silicon metal remained weak on Tuesday May 8 with prices of some specification dipping, such as the 411# silicon metal at Tianjin port was trading at 14,800-15,000CNY/MT.

Most organosilicon plants delayed their procurement to later this month due to ample inventories and maintenance works while only a few purchased small amounts earlier this month.

Downstream consumer purchased cautiously given their bearish sentiment as the rainy season approaches.

We expect Chemical-grade silicon metal to stay weak in the short term.
