Xinjiang Jinxin reduces production of silicon metal
According to a person in charge of market in Xinjiang Jinxin Silicon Industrial Co., Limited, which is one of major producers of chemical grade silicon metal 4-1-1&4-2-1 in China, reduced production last week, and expects to produce around 10,000t in April.
"We face a big problem of good quality quartz, major raw material to produce silicon metal. The output of chemical grade silicon metal 4-1-1&4-2-1 takes 30-40% of our totaled output, while it used to be around 80%, so we decided to suspend four furnaces last week. We run eight furnaces now, and we produce around 200t per day," the source disclosed last Thursday. The company has four furnaces of 12,500kVA and eight furnaces of 15,000kVA in total, and they mainly produce chemical grade silicon metal 4-1-1&4-2-1.
The company, with an annual production capacity of 100,000t of silicon metal and an inventory of 2,000t now, produced around 70,000t in 2019, and produced around 60,000t in 2020.
Current mainstream prices of Chinese chemical grade silicon metal 4-2-1 stand at RMB14,500-14,700/t (USD2,210-2,241/t) D/A 180 days delivered, unchanged from early this week. Given the increasing output as producers in Southern China would resume production with the coming of rainy season, the source expects that the prices of Chinese chemical grade silicon metal would go down slightly in the coming week.
