Lower supplies in dry season grow bullishness on silicon prices

‍‍Silicon producers in the south remained on prices of non-oxidized 553# silicon as hydropower shortages in the dry season drove large producers to cut supplies.

Downstream orders for non-oxidized 553# silicon at producers in Sichuan and Chongqing have been scheduled till mid-June, and this kept those mills from accepting more forward orders from consumers.

We learned that some mills with spot products of non-oxidized 553# silicon refrained from offloading cargoes in anticipation of higher prices.

As of Monday May 27th, prices of non-oxidized 553# silicon stood at 10,700-10,800 CNY/MT in the eastern market, up 100 CNY/MT from Friday May 24th. Prices climbed some 150 CNY/MT on the week as of Monday May 27th.
