Monthly procurement from downstream consumers stemmed the decline in prices of chemical-grade silicon as of Tuesday April 2nd. Lower supplies and poor margins also drove most silicon producers to hold offers firm.
As of Tuesday April 2nd, spot prices of 421# silicon at ports stood at an average 12,600 CNY/MT, barely changed from April 1st.
As of April 2nd, only one downstream organic silicon producer launched fresh tenders for the procurement of silicon raw materials, with purchasing prices of 421# silicon down some 200 CNY/MT on the month.
Most other organic silicon mills, currently consume in-plant inventories, are likely to postpone their purchases to mid-April.
