Entrusted by Chongqing Bureau of Land, Resources and Housing Administration, the No. 205 exploration team from Chongqing Bureau of Geology and Minerals Exploration has been undertaking the package exploration program for Chongqing Chengkou manganese ore mine. Recently, the team reported breakthrough discoveries in the exploration process. The three major exploration zones (Xiuqi, Gaoyan and Daduxi) were inferred to sit in the expected prospecting targets; and at 12 drills out of the 14 drills made at the Stage one, intervals of manganese ores were intersected at 500-1300 meters below earth surface at an average grade of 20%, whose indicated resources amounted to 95 million tons. It was estimated that ores in the exploration area are located within 2000 meters below earth surface and manganese resources amounted to nearly 200 million tons.

According to technical officials from the No. 205 exploration team, manganese is one of minerals that Chongqing boasts as its advantageous minerals; located in the rim of Yangzi crustal plate, Chengkou manganese package exploration area is a national level of the kind set up in 2013. Geological structure of the exploration area is quite complicated, but to make sure that strategic goal of China’s 358 mine prospecting project be realized, the team put into priority exploration of geological structure of the mine. During the exploration process, the team issued theory of overlapping tiles to renew its prediction on the whole mine’s structure. Electromagnetic sounding was used to decipher signals from complicated intervals in the exploration region. Exports were invited to the exploration area to give on-spot guidance on exploration designing and drill positioning. Thanks to those efforts, breakthrough findings were achieved for the exploration program.
