China, US agree to continue trade, cooperation

‍‍At the US-China trade talks in Washington on January 30-31, China and the US agreed to strengthen cooperation on protecting intellectual property, and push forward the balanced development of trade, reported state news agency Xinhua on Friday February 1st.

Though the talks concluded without a deal, both sides expressed optimism and agreed to further trade talks later this month.

The two sides also attached great importance to an effective implementation that would ensure new agreements work effectively in practice. The two countries reached a consensus on the framework and key elements of the implementation mechanism and will continue to add details, Xinhua said.

Topics discussed included trade balance, technology transfer, intellectual property protection, non-tariff barriers, services, and agriculture.
