Qinghai Salt Lake’s production process for 100,000tpy of magnesium ingot gets through
The dehydration unit of Qinghai Salt Lake Industry Group Company Limited (Qinghai Salt Lake) successfully produced anhydrous magnesium chloride recently and its production process for magnesium ingot got through, realizing dramatic breakthroughs on pilot production of magnesium ingot.
Invested with over RMB30 billion, the integrated project of magnesium ingot under Qinghai Salt Lake owns key technologies in the current world such as electrolytic method, French Arkema PVC, acetylene furnace method of Carbide Industries LLC and is a large industry group for non-ferrous metals, coal-coking, chemical industry for chlorine and alkali. The main raw material for magnesium ingot was magnesium chloride which was produced during the production of potash fertilizer. According to the calculation of the company, Qarhan Salt Lake area owns magnesium chloride reserves of nearly 4 billion tons, accounting for over 90% in the world. These resources can produce 1 billion tons of magnesium ingots if 4.2t of magnesium chloride can produce 1t of magnesium ingot.
